Where do we start?
How about our first draft of appliedCommunity.
In the summer of 2004, I was getting started into whitewater kayaking and was compeletly clueless on the process one needed to go through to learn the sport. I foolishly stumbled around until I found a website that was created for whitewater kayaking in my region. After multiple visits I began going out on trips with users of this site and I began rapidly becoming more proficient at the sport. It was not long until I realized that there were so many draw backs that our current website had. I had a different view on the web and it's potentials. From my view it was easy to see the key role our online communities play. After all we check flows and snows online, we chat and plan online, we review and post photo's online, and then when we break gear were back on line for replacements. Why would we not want a community solution that could provide all of these functions and more?
And so the first version of appliedCommunity was born. First we started out as a few concepts woven into a forum application. As time went on, the package of tools we built began greatly overwhelming the forum application, so we moved into a new framework. We still use a forum application in our suite of "Modules" but you will not find any other packages from other companies. These are specifically being designed by our staff for the specific needs of focused communities around the world.
In short appliedCommunities is basically the joint effort of a group of individuals that are dedicated to their interests and have a passion for technology. Our team consists of Software Developers, Sporting Guides, Thrill Seekers, and Beta Gatherers.
